Why Have An At-Home Couple Session?

I love photographing couples all around the Long Island, New York area, from Montauk and Planting Fields Arboretum to Fort Tyron Park. But I especially love at-home couple sessions because it’s special and intimate. What’s an at-home couple session you ask? Let me tell ya 7 reasons to have an at-home couple session and why it’s THE best thing ever!

1. HOME IS YOUR HAPPY PLACE

What’s more special than your home? I always tell my couples that they can choose any place that is special to them. You spend so much time together at home and it’s the center of your story. Snuggling up on the couch, laughing at each other brushing your teeth, decorating for the season…your home is a place you built together 😊 You don’t need to go to a random park that means absolutely nothing to you, you can totally choose your home that’s surrounded by the things you love ❤️

2. YOU’LL BE SUPER COMFY AT HOME

You can BE you and DO you! Even though I’m behind the lens more often than I’m in front, I do completely understand that getting your photo taken can be nerve wrecking. Being at home will automatically make you feel at ease, relaxed and comfortable! And of course, I’ll do my very best to make you feel comfortable! Plus, you’re at home so you don’t need to worry about driving, traffic or parking which is always awesome to avoid! It’s also easy for you to change outfits because, well you’re at home! At-home couple sessions are comfortable and informal so you don’t need to worry about finding a dress or fancy pants. You can wear your coziest clothes that you wear at home and dress like yourself ☺️ And any props you want to include are right there, you don’t have to carry it around a whole park.

3. IT DOESN’T RAIN INDOORS!

If you know me, you know I LOVE golden hour outside. If you don’t know what that means, it’s just the hour within sunrise or the hour before the sun sets. That’s when the light is at it’s most beautiful! But sometimes it rains, or it’s super cloudy. If we do an at-home couple session, then we don’t have to worry about the weather! And we don’t have to worry about rescheduling. If you’re asking yourself, well what if my home is dark or what if I don’t have a lot of windows for natural light to come in? No worries, I have my handy dandy flash!

4. YOU CAN SNUGGLE UP ON THE COUCH AT AN AT-HOME COUPLE SESSION

Love watching movies and snuggling up on the couch? Or playing board games? Or making coffee together or cooking? Well guess what! We can do all that in our at-home couple session! Yes, you read that right. Here’s a few reasons why:

1. It’s authentically YOU. You want photos that represent who you two are, right? Then this is how we do it! We can take photos of you two doing an activity that you love doing together like eating ice cream or snuggling up with your dogs.
2. Doing an activity you love to do will help you feel more relaxed and comfortable! So much so that you’ll forget I’m there taking photos of you!

5. DOGS, CATS, PETS, OH MY!

Most outdoor locations don’t allow animals. But in an at-home session, your furry friends are most welcome 😊
